The Wild Horses of Alberta

The first wild horses in Alberta came with Columbus. Most of the horses escaped from the conquistadors, and others were stolen and taken into battle. The ones that did escape got caught by the Blackfoot Indians, and the horses became apart of daily life. As the Blackfoot lived in what is now Alberta, the horses escaped and that how the wild horses became apart of Alberta.

Nowadays however, wild horses -instead of being treated with respect- are being treated unkindly. Thousands roamed free, now less than three hundred remain. The reason- no matter how rude- must be told. Most wild horses are being caught for live slaughter, for meat and sadly for sport. That is why I urge you to help save the wild horses of Alberta.
